New look, new domain for the DPA website

03 Apr 2006

The Data Publishers Association today launched a newly designed website, located at the new domain www.dpa.org.uk and offering a range of new services to its members.

The new site provides greater opportunities to promote DPA members and to keep them informed about the latest developments throughout the industry. It is built on the core features of the previous website, which included latest news, a fully searchable members’ directory and information about upcoming events.

In the public area, the main navigation offers users detailed information about the work of the DPA and its activities. The features include: About DPA; Members directory, Become a member; News*; Events; Affiliated Associations and Useful Contacts.

But the site enhancement also incorporates a new Legal and Public Affairs section, giving detailed information about the work the DPA has undertaken recently to support the data publishing industry, and a Training and Seminars section.

This has a full list of forthcoming training courses - both the DPA ‘hot-topic courses’, such as the upcoming Data Protection Course on 11 April -  as well as those where the association has partnered with a training provider to offer a wider selection of core training.

The redesign also sees the introduction of a new Members’ Area. Here members will find a wealth of information exclusive to them:

News in Brief
This monthly newsletter is now only fully accessible by members.  While non-members will continue to receive the HTML news page, the full stories and information are only available to members

Business Support Helpline
This is a free service to members, giving a hotline number for advice on issues such as tax, VAT, health and safety and employment. The members’ area contains the details required for members to access this free service.

DPA Branding
The DPA gives full access to members to use the DPA logo in their publications and on headed paper, enabling them to clearly show their affiliation to the association and commitment to the industry. Members can download the latest logos direct from the website.

Nick Saunders, DPA chairman, said: “We’re very pleased with the new look and feel of our website, which has been designed to ensure that our members have as comprehensive an information resource as possible, at a time of wide change within the industry. It is also aimed at providing an interesting and useful shop window for non members too.”

With the new domain name also comes a new email address, to contact the DPA, email christine@dpa.org.uk

For further information about the website, or if you are a member and have not received your password, please contact Christine Scott.

*Non members can only gain full access to all the News in Brief articles after three months.
