“Forget the recession, if only for tonight”, said DPA’s Jerry Gosney, welcoming members and guests to this year's DPA Awards on 23rd October. “Let’s really enjoy the evening and salute winning companies and individuals who've shown they’ve got what it takes to withstand whatever the future throws at them.”
And, boy, did the gathering of 200 members and guests at the De Vere Grand in
BBC sports personality John Inverdale was a great hit, interspersing announcing 15 award winners with some sharp one liners, mixed in with a rather dodgy impersonation of the great John Arlott.
Derek Carter, former boss at Emap Communications who chaired the judging panel, praised the quality of this year’s entries, which he said raised and set the bar for the data publishing sector.
